The World is my Parish – Celebrating World Mission in Methodism’s past and exploring God’s Mission in the future.

Friday 30th May – Sunday 1st June 2025 at Cliff College, Calver, Hope Valley, Sheffield S32 3XG

Following last year’s successful conference at Cliff College we are looking forward to meeting there again. Come and join with us in celebrating the contribution of lay mission partners, hear from recent lay mission partners, MWM partners, Methodist Church Global Relationships team and look forward to the future.

We are delighted to welcome Rev’d Reynaldo Leao Neto, General Secretary of the World Methodist Council as our Keynote Speaker, as well as the Connexional Vice President, Carolyn Godfrey, and the Methodist Youth President, Bea Hulme. Saturday will include a time of celebration and worship, and Sunday worship will include thanksgiving, for the contribution of lay mission partners. There will also be panel and discussion time as we look to the future.

Outline programme:

  • After a welcome and introductions, our Friday evening session will be led by some of our returned mission partner families.
  • On Saturday morning we will hear from our Keynote Speaker, Rev’d Reynaldo Leao Neto, followed by ‘Table Talk’ sessions, where you will be able to talk with returned and previous mission partners, Districts with overseas partnership links, Global Relationships Area Coordinators and MWM partners and friends.
  • On Saturday afternoon, following MWM’s AGM, it is party time – a time of celebration, thanksgiving and worship, with space for networking and catch-up with friends.
  • Saturday concludes after the evening meal with a panel discussion time.
  • Sunday starts with some short two-minute cameos before a discussion: ‘What does the future look like?’
  • After coffee our Worship will include thanksgiving for the contribution of lay mission partners and dedication of future mission.

Working with the Methodist Heritage and Communications teams, there will be opportunities to share memories of previous mission partner experiences, so do bring along (scannable) photos and memorabilia.

Day visitors are welcome for either Saturday or Sunday if you can’t stay for the whole weekend.
